Kensington Park
The “Gateway” to Lyndale Avenue
The “Gateway” to Lyndale Avenue in Richfield, MN, Kensington Park is a dynamic blend of residential and retail that helped energize this first ring suburb.
Kensington Park is masterfully planned to address the scale of Lyndale Avenue, a busy transit route for buses, cars, cyclists and pedestrians. It connects multiple suburbs to downtown Minneapolis and the outlying freeway system, while being respectful of the smaller scale single family homes directly to its west. The plan creates an attractive street-front along Lyndale Avenue by stacking 96 condominium units over 27,000 square feet of first floor retail. Parking is housed off street on an interior parking court for retail and guests, and below the buildings for condominium residents. The transition to the outlying single family neighborhood is made by 14 townhomes that seamlessly meet the scale of the existing neighborhood.
Completion of the project was commemorated by a $76,000 donation to the Woodlake Nature Center, Richfield Public Schools and the Richfield Historical Society by The Cornerstone Group Foundation.
