BYOB–to a wedding??

Wedding bells were ringing recently as 50 or so bikes rode through the streets of Tucson, Arizona. Our new friend and web developer, Ian Johnson married Emily Yetman under a gorgeous Tucson Mountain’s sunset last weekend. Following the wedding and a dinner reception at the James Hills Research Ranch about 20 miles west of town in The Tucson Mountains, The newlyweds hosted around 200 of their closest family and friends at The Museum of Contemporary Art’s new home.

Groom, Ian Johnson said “it just seemed really obvious to have a bike procession.” Ian, a dot-commer turned web developer who used to build 60s hot rods, got rid of his last car about three years ago and now has a roughly eight-bike collection. His bride, Prescott, AZ native, Emily Yetman of the famous Yetman Family has been riding a bike almost religiously since her days in undergrad more than ten years ago.

Following tequila nips at the couple’s Downtown home, about half of the guests went on promenade through historic Downtown Tucson to MOCA. “This is really pushing the envelope! It makes sense that Ian and Emily would set the bar this high; we live in a progressive area in Chelsea [Manhattan] and even the cool people wouldn’t have thought to do it this way.” says Laura O’Steen, girlfriend of Emily’s brother Benton. The reception at MOCA included a live turf for picnicking, a taco cart, ping-pong, Mariachi and art, a lot of art!
