Farm to Table, to Phone

Ever since I bought my first iPhone, I have been taking pictures of almost everything I eat. For no reason other than to have an available reference of something I got on a ‘Plato Poca Cosa’ at Cafe Poca Cosa in Tucson, AZ, or the maple syrup marinade I threw together for carne asada two summers ago. A while back, I started a Facebook album of food that I made and have seen it generate quite a bit of hype. I’m not alone however, there seem to be millions of people posting pictures of their food along with recipes. The New York Times did a piece all about these folks earlier this month saying that “One of the largest and most active Flickr groups, called “I Ate This,”includes more than 300,000 photos that have been contributed by more than 19,000 members. There would be more, but members are limited to 50 photos a month. The same phenomena can be found on other sites like Twitter, Facebook,MySpace, Foodspotting, Shutterfly, Chowhound and FoodCandy” –they forgot to mention my album!
