Community Arts Coordinator
“When we dream alone it is only a dream, but when many dream together it is the beginning of a new reality.” -Friedensreich Hundertwasser
By way of the arts Andrew works to uphold and expand The Cornerstone Group’s mission to create thriving communities. He seeks out creative-minded neighbors and professional artists in Cornerstone communities with whom to create projects that celebrate and enhance the creative fabric of community life. This may include hiring and supporting artists-in-residence, programming performance and lecture series, networking with local artists, designing community arts projects, and working with both the Cornerstone development team and client communities to incorporate more artistic and inspiring elements into the community development process.
Prior to joining The Cornerstone Group Andrew taught high school for ten years, then spent two years creating a site-specific, community-driven theatre company called PlaceBase Productions, for which he is still Artistic Director. With PlaceBase Andrew has created site-specific theatre in ten different Minnesota communities, exploring community history, identity and visions for the future by means of storytelling, music, comedy, and all the exuberant talent available locally.
